About the event
Jacob Nagle was only 16 when he joined the Continental Army then later the Navy during the Revolutionary War. After being captured by the British he became a Seaman in the Royal Navy. At the age of 27, he sailed on the H.M.S. Sirus when it arrived in Sydney Cove in what is now Australia. Leaving no descendants, he spent his final years in Stark County living near his sister and working as a surveyor and in the County Recorders Office. We know of his journey though his journal that was verified, transcribed and published by John C. Dann, The Nagle Journal.
The celebration includes the SAR Honor Guard, a luncheon at the MAPS Air Museum with Guest Speaker John C Dann, raffle baskets, a self-guided tour and much more.
